Come along as I explore The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood, which opened on April 7, 2016, replacing The Adventures of Curious George, which closed on September 6, 2013. Experience the sights and sounds of this magical area with me, including the flagship attraction, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. This flight-simulating ride is similar to the one in Orlando. While visitors once wore Quidditch-inspired 3D goggles for an enhanced experience, the 3D visuals have recently been replaced by 2D.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a collection of themed areas at Universal Destinations & Experiences inspired by the Harry Potter media franchise, incorporating elements from both the Warner Bros. film series and the original novels by J.K. Rowling. These areas were created by Universal Creative under an exclusive license with Warner Bros. Entertainment.

In 2003, rumors surfaced about a potential Harry Potter-themed attraction at either a Disney or Universal park. However, Warner Bros. had acquired the rights to the Harry Potter franchise and denied these rumors. Both Disney and Universal entered into bidding negotiations with Warner Bros. and Rowling for the theme park rights. In 2004, Rowling signed a letter of intent with Disney to develop a Harry Potter-themed area in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World. In January 2007, a rumor emerged that Universal’s Islands of Adventure would re-theme its Lost Continent area to include elements from one of the most popular children's franchises. In the following days, unofficial confirmations pointed to Harry Potter. On May 31, 2007, Universal, in partnership with Warner Bros., officially announced that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter would be added to Islands of Adventure.
