With the opening of Universal Epic Universe on May 22, Universal Orlando Resort’s four amazing theme parks take you from the action of your favorite movies to legendary tales of excitement to incredible worlds of adventure to a tropical island paradise. Add spectacular themed hotels, and it’s a complete vacation with a full week of non-stop awesome.

Universal Orlando Resort, frequently referred to as Universal Orlando, is a sprawling 1,291-acre (522 ha) theme park and entertainment complex in Orlando, Florida, and is the flagship destination for Universal Destinations and Experiences. It all began in 1990 with the opening of Universal Studios Florida. Buoyed by its success, MCA expanded the concept to rival Walt Disney World Resort by creating a multi-park experience. This expansion included the addition of Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk in 1999—a vibrant shopping and nightlife district featuring themed restaurants and retail outlets. Later, in 2017, the resort introduced its first water theme park, Universal Volcano Bay, which covers 30 acres (12 ha). A fourth theme park, Universal Epic Universe, is set to open in 2025.

Initially, the complex was named Universal Studios Escape, but guest confusion led to a name change to Universal Orlando Resort in July 2000. Over time, the resort has added numerous attractions and amenities, such as Woody Woodpecker's KidZone at Universal Studios, multiple on-site hotels, and The Rising Star karaoke bar within CityWalk. A standout feature is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a themed area spanning both parks that has significantly boosted overall attendance. The resort hosts well-known annual events like Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, live shows, and entertainment offerings.

With an annual attendance reaching 21 million as of 2017, Universal Orlando ranks among the world's most visited resorts. Guests staying at select hotels benefit from special perks, such as early admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Volcano Bay and sometimes even complimentary Universal Express Passes for shorter wait times at major attractions. Additionally, the resort is well-connected by an organized transportation network that includes water taxis, pathways, buses, and moving walkways linking many hotels and theme parks across the area. Notably, in 2021, Universal Orlando's attendance surpassed three of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort.

On August 1, 2019, NBCUniversal revealed plans to construct a fourth theme park named Universal Epic Universe. This new park will be located a few miles south of the current resort, occupying a vast 750-acre site. It will feature five distinct areas: a central hub called Celestial Park, four themed lands inspired by "How to Train Your Dragon", "Wizarding Paris" from the "Fantastic Beasts" series, Universal Monsters, and Super Nintendo World. The project is expected to create 14,000 jobs, with Comcast CEO Brian Roberts describing Epic Universe as "the largest investment we've ever made in a park." The complex will also include three new resort hotels and various dining and retail facilities.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NBCUniversal announced in April 2020 that the park's opening would be postponed to 2024. In July 2020, the company further announced a temporary pause on development "until the future becomes more certain." However, by March 2021, work on Epic Universe had resumed.

The park is currently scheduled to open on May 22, 2025.
