In 2007, Whoopi Goldberg was the video host for the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park.

The Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour, also known as the Backlot Tour, is the park's flagship attraction, offering guests an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a working film and television studio. This 45- to 60-minute tram ride navigates through the sprawling Front Lot and Backlot, showcasing a variety of iconic film sets, historic locations, and immersive attractions. Highlights include King Kong: 360 3-D, an intense 3D experience that places guests in the middle of a battle between King Kong and a ferocious T-Rex, and Fast & Furious: Supercharged, a high-octane simulation featuring characters and vehicles from the blockbuster franchise, enhanced by expansive 360-degree screens. Guests can also experience Earthquake: The Big One, a stunningly realistic recreation of an 8.3 magnitude earthquake in a subway station, and the Jaws Encounter, which brings the terror of the infamous great white shark to life on Amity Island. Other memorable stops include the Psycho: Bates Mansion, where visitors may encounter Norman Bates himself, Courthouse Square, the iconic set featured in Back to the Future, and numerous other productions.

The tour also takes guests through outdoor sets like Little Europe, Old Mexico, and Six Points Texas, giving a glimpse into the versatile locations used in Hollywood productions. In 2022, the Studio Tour added Jupiter's Claim, a detailed and eerie recreation of a set from Jordan Peele’s Nope, becoming the first attraction to debut in tandem with a film's release. Guests can also see other famous locations, such as Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives, and sets from films like War of the Worlds, including a jaw-dropping airplane crash site.

As a dynamic attraction, the Studio Tour evolves with the times. Since its inception in 1964, it has embraced new technology, including introducing electric trams in 2022 as part of Universal’s commitment to environmental sustainability. It also integrates live narration by expert guides with pre-recorded commentary from renowned celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, who provide entertaining insights about Hollywood's history and the filmmaking process. This tour is not just a ride but a journey into the heart of Hollywood’s creative magic, blending entertainment, education, and awe-inspiring visuals, making it an essential experience for anyone visiting Universal Studios Hollywood.
