Six Flags Great Adventure television commercial from March 1999.

In 1999, Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, was a premier destination on the East Coast, known for its mix of thrilling rides, family-friendly attractions, and unique experiences. Its standout roller coasters were *Batman: The Ride*, an inverted coaster with riders suspended beneath the track, the seven-inversion steel coaster The Great American Scream Machine, and the classic wooden racing coaster Rolling Thunder. The biggest highlight of 1999 was the debut of *Medusa*, the world’s first floorless roller coaster, offering an innovative ride experience with loops, corkscrews, and no floor beneath riders’ feet. For families, the park included a range of flat rides, a log flume, a classic carousel, and Bugs Bunny Land, featuring Looney Tunes-themed rides and characters. Additionally, Six Flags Great Adventure was unique in offering a drive-through safari experience adjacent to the amusement park, allowing guests to observe animals from around the world in a natural setting. Entertainment at the park included a popular Batman-themed stunt show and seasonal events like Fright Fest, which transformed the park with Halloween-themed attractions and haunted houses. The park’s record-breaking thrill rides and family-friendly attractions made 1999 a memorable year for visitors.

Six Flags Great Adventure is an amusement park about 20 miles southeast of Trenton in Jackson, New Jersey. Operated by Six Flags, the park lies conveniently between New York City and Philadelphia and includes a water park known as Hurricane Harbor. Originally opened to the public as Great Adventure 1974 by restaurateur Warner LeRoy, Six Flags purchased the park in 1977. It’s easily accessible from Interstate 195 and Monmouth Road (County Route 537).

In 2012, Six Flags merged its 160-acre Great Adventure with the neighboring 350-acre Wild Safari animal park to create Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari. Now covering 510 acres, it is the world's second-largest theme park, just behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
