On Golic & Golic, Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr. break down Michigan’s decision to hire longtime Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham on a five-year deal reportedly averaging $8.2 million per year. After decades at Utah and stepping away from retirement, Whittingham takes over a Michigan program facing major transition, investigations, and roster uncertainty.

The Golics explain why this move is viewed as a home run hire, how Whittingham’s physical, line-of-scrimmage style fits Michigan’s identity, and why his reputation, discipline, and leadership could steady the program during portal season. They also discuss what this means for roster retention, Bryce Underwood’s future, and whether Whittingham can replicate his Utah success in Ann Arbor.

Is this exactly what Michigan needed at its most vulnerable moment?
