2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the passage of the 15th Amendment that gave African American men the right to vote, including many who were formerly enslaved and served as soldiers during the Civil War. To learn about this achievement and more, join us virtually on July 14th at 10 AM, as faculty from the University of Maryland, Department of History discuss the black freedom struggle in Maryland before, during, and after the Civil War. This event is free to the public. Register at mdhs.org/events.
