## Caption

This #FashionFriday we are taking a close look at a man's waistcoat from c.1807. The colorful floral embroidery travels down the center of the waistcoat, along the bottom and also across the pocket flaps. It was not uncommon for men to have beautifully decorative embroidered waistcoats to show their status and wealth. This stunning floral waistcoat was worn by William Pinkney in 1807 according to the inscription on the inside. 1956.65.23 Gift of Mrs. Lawrence R.Carton. #fashionhistory #fashioncollection #marylandhistory #fashionarchives #fashionarchive #mensfashion #vintagemenswear #vintagemen #waistcoat #19thcentury #19thcenturyfashion #fashionfridays #floraldesign #meninfloral #flowers #fashion
