Some discoveries are hiding in plain sight 🎞️👀Listen as Mildred Howard beautifully narrates re-discovered film reels she shot as a teenager during a 1959 trip from Oakland to Galveston, Texas, and later at home in Berkeley.   These unearthed 8mm films—depicting her classmates at Willard Junior High, family gatherings, and the landscapes around her—find new life in the never-before-seen OMCA installation of “Moving Stills.” The installation demonstrates clearly how Howard’s practice uses everyday moments to explore memory, family, and experiences that bind us together.   🎥 Join us for an exclusive screening of “Memories in Motion: Selected Stories of Mildred Howard” during Friday Nights on October 16.   LAST CHANCE to see this work inside “Mildred Howard: Poetics of Memory” before the exhibition closes October 18! 🎟️ Tickets at the link in bio.   #MildredHoward #PoeticsOfMemory #OaklandArt #BayAreaArt #TheOaklandMuseumCA #OaklandEvents
