Governor Brad Little and Brig. Gen. Michael Garshak, Adjutant General of Idaho, presented Lt. Col. Phillip Mills and 1st Lt. Mathew Mills with the Idaho Cross Medal this afternoon at the Idaho State Capital.⁣ ⁣
Lt. Col. Mills and his son, 1st Lt. Mills, were awarded the medal for their actions on Oct. 29, when they rushed to an individual who was preparing to leap from the Simco Road overpass and pulled her to safety, preventing life-threatening injuries to herself or others traveling on the interstate below.⁣ ⁣
The Idaho Cross is the state’s highest award presented to a military member or civilian employee of the Idaho Military Division, and recognizes actions by an individual who saves the life of another or accomplishes a significant act of heroism.⁣
