Have you ever made pancakes over a fire before? Pancakes have been around for centuries but there is no definitive evidence that pancakes were ever cooked at Sutter’s Fort in the 1840s. However, all ingredients would have been available at the Fort at the time, so we can conclude that it would have been possible. With that said, we wanted to make some pancakes. After all, September 26th is National Pancake Day! In this video, Jared cooks some pancakes in the kitchen at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. The pancakes were cooked in a cast iron pan over hot coals. This recipe involves no eggs but using sour milk with baking soda.  #nationalpancakeday #pancake #suttersfort #castateparks #museumtok
