If you visit our park grounds, you will see one of California’s largest bunch grasses. In this video, Theresa takes a look at Muhlenbergia rigens, otherwise known as deer grass, which can be found in many places on the park grounds of the State Indian Museum and Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. Theresa also discussed the plant’s distinctive characteristics and traditional California Native uses in basket making. Interested in learning more about California Native basket making? Visit the State Indian Museum for our California Basket Weavers’ Day on November 15th from 10am to 4pm! #castateparks #deergrass #nativeplants #suttersfort #stateindianmuseum
