## Caption

If you’ve visited the park grounds of the CA State Indian Museum and Sutter’s Fort lately, especially around the pond, you will see many waterfowl and their young offspring. In this video, Mark takes a closer look at how the urban ponds of Midtown Sacramento attract and shelter waterfowl such as ducks and Canada geese. While thousands of migratory waterfowl pass through California each year along the Pacific Flyway, many waterfowl make the state their home year round. These urban ponds offer a critical haven, not just for resting migrating birds, but also for them to stay to nest. Having a nice water source and ample native plants help the young goslings and ducklings survive. For visitors, the pond offers a fantastic opportunity to observe wildlife in the heart of the city! We invite you to observe and enjoy the wildlife on our site, but kindly refrain from feeding, disturbing the mothers with their babies, or touching them. While they may be in the city, they are still wild animals! #ducks #geese #migration #birding #birdwatching #pacificflyway #waterfowl #ornithology #suttersfort #stateindianmuseum #castateparks #history #sacramento #museum #sactiktok
