August 15th is National Leathercraft Day! This day honors the artistry, skill, and heritage of leatherworking. 

For today, Howard letterpress printed a hand carved woodcut from the Lewis Winter Collection. This was made 125-135 years ago and it depicts a tracing wheel, which creates evenly spaced perforations or marks on the leather’s surface and guides where stitches should be placed. This was printed with green rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
