June 5th is National Running Day! This day, also known as Global Running Day, encourages people to get outside, go for a run, and reminds us of the positives running has for our physical and mental health. For today, Howard ran to our print shop exhibit to letterpress print an electrotype of a man running with an open can of paint. This cut is from the Bill Gaylord Collection. There is no sprinting in the printing process, however. Trying to go fast with our 172 year old printing press could lead to handling the equipment incorrectly. We like to take our time while printing. The rubber base ink we use, this case Pantone PMS 7533c, is a very slow drying ink as well. #SacHistoryMuseum #NationalRunningDay #GlobalRunningDay #Running #run #sacramento #museum #History #printingpress #printing
