February 20th is National No Politics Day! It might be the day after Presidents Day and we are in an election year but try not to get too political today. It is hard to avoid talking politics though! For today, Jared letterpress printed a large photo engraving from the Brett from Pennsylvania Collection. This would have appeared in newspapers in the 1960s and depicts an employer chiseling away at a piece of marble that says “the lowest paid.” A pile of coins at the bottom of the image says “$89,000,000 in underpayment violations of wage-hour laws.” This includes the union bug for AFL-CIO, and which means unions could potentially help fix this problem. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. #SacHistoryMuseum #NationalNoPoliticsDay #nopoliticsday #nopolitics #politicalcartoon #sacramento #museum #History #letterpress #printing
