Millwork is one of the most defining elements of an interior, shaping much of what we see, touch and interact with every day. Behind these finished details is a process that brings together expertise, material knowledge and craftsmanship.

The Kindred Custom Homes team recently visited BWP Spaces in Kelowna alongside Measured Architecture and Sophie Burke Design Group. Specializing in large-scale, finely detailed millwork for luxury, design-led projects, BWP welcomed the group into their workshop to explore the people and processes behind their work.

The visit provided insight into how complex, high-end millwork is developed and brought to life, from production design and material selection to fabrication methods. Throughout the day, the group examined materials firsthand, exchanged ideas and discussed the technical considerations, planning, and coordination required to translate detailed drawings into finished installations.

Bringing architects, interior designers, builders and specialized trades together early allows everyone to better understand each other’s approaches and capabilities, strengthen working relationships and establish a shared understanding of the work ahead.

Scroll through for a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s experience touring BWP Spaces’ workshop.
