## Caption

January 19th is National Tin Can Day! On this day in 1825, Ezra Daggett and Thomas Kensett of New York were granted the first United States patent for canning and preserving food in tin cans. For today, Jared letterpress printed the closest image we can make to a tin can. This hand carved woodcut, made 125-130 years ago, is from the Lewis Winter Collection. #NationalTinCanDay #tincan #woodcut #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramento #museum #printing
