Y’all are not ready for this #ShowMeYourSpringBreak! Yesterday and today, we welcomed celebs to the UTSA Southwest Campus for Screenwriters Spring Break.

For the past day and a half, students from UTSA, Alamo Colleges, and local high schools have had the chance to learn from some of the best screenwriters in Hollywood. Students divided into groups led by one of the screenwriters, created their own original pilot - and had it critiqued.

And guess who came out to join us?!

Emmy-nominated writer and producer John Herrera ("The Handmaid's Tale"), Emmy-nominated writer and producer Nina Fiore ("The Handmaid's Tale", "Vampire Diaries"), Jorge Ramirez-Martinez and Raymond Arturo Perez ("Selena: The Series"). Another cool thing: Raymond Arturo Perez is a San Antonio native, and a graduate of Communication Arts High School, who also joined in on the screenwriting fun!

John Herrera, who is also an assistant professor teaching screenwriting in our new Film and Media Studies Program, led one of the student groups through a Horror pilot. Jorge Ramirez-Martinez led his group through an original procedural, such as a cop or courtroom drama.

Students were able to choose which group they wanted to join in on depending on their own genre of interest. They got a taste of what a writer's room looks like, from the pros themselves.
