One of a kind. Last weekend, we were finally able to make it to our first inspiresoccerleague fixture, this time in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 2023 by teammates Nil Vinyals and João Gomiero, the Inspire Soccer League is the first national soccer league of its kind in the States, open for individuals 16 and older with intellectual impairment who want to showcase their talent on a competitive stage nationwide.

Now featuring five teams; Colorado Springs Switchbacks, Winthrop University, One Knox SC, Spokane Impact, and United Genuine FC, this weekend’s slate of games had long been described as what could be the most exciting matchups in the league to date… so we packed our bags, grabbed our cameras, and made our way to Colorado for what’d be one of our favorite 48 hours of soccer this year.

From the players on the pitch to the volunteers behind the scenes, everyone’s commitment to uplifting the sport in the intellectual disability community for greater emotional, social and physical wellbeing was incredible to see!

Thank you nvinyals joao_gomiero for the invite and the entire inspiresoccerleague for welcoming us this weekend, and can’t wait to share some stories from our time together soon! In the meantime, here are some of our favorite photos from the weekend…
