Why the name SUAY? 
If you know my journey towards recycled textiles you know how much Tina is a part of that. Since the day we met it was a love match of total cosmic creativity and craftsmanship. Tina taught how to sew and I mean really sew, I thought I knew but she schooled me ✌️haha. Our joint passion of turning old clothes into new boiled between us over the years, in many forms, until Suay was born. Suay means beautiful in Thai and that is really an ode to Tina. 16 years + with her as my teacher and guide, still being an integral part of SUAY today. Mother/daughter, partners, souls meant to find each other, make amazing things and show the world what’s possible with team work and drive. She would say SUAY often when were looking at a remade garment we sewed together. It was her call out when we got it where we wanted it to be. She taught me what a beautiful fit really is, how to control fabrics on the machine that would naturally fight one another, how an idea can be something you touch days later. We have laughed and cried and fought plenty, but underneath all of that is such a deep love and respect. I’m sure you know who your guides are, the elders you model yourself after, push yourself to make them proud, inspiring you to grow older with more knowledge at your hands. Tina has been that for me. So if you ever wondered where we got the idea to name the shop SUAY..just scroll thru these photos of my powerful mentor, most beloved collaborator, and the woman I will do anything for forever and ever.
