Morning everyone! I get lots of questions about the art on my walls and where I get the pictures from - well the answer is, I actually paint them all myself! In fact almost all the originals are currently sold, so all the framed pictures of birds and plants are limited edition pigment ink prints.

You’ll notice I have a lot of flying birds like this one, which is called Breathe, painted from seagulls I’d photographed on the beach in Cornwall.

The flying bird theme originated from my first solo show of paintings, when I changed careers to be an artist and designer 10yrs ago. They represented flying free from the corporate world where I’d worked in a City law firm for 8yrs; final mental freedom from the clutches of a cult I’d been in for 6yrs (although had left 10yrs previously); and release from a difficult relationship.

I was in the challenging situation of being a 41yr old single parent of a baby and a toddler in a small (beige!) rental with very little money, but I felt happier and more liberated than I had done in years and felt a surge of creativity, because I was finally beginning the creative career I’d always wanted.

So the birds also represent that sense of peace and quiet focus, when you finally feel you’ve fallen into the pocket of who you truly are and can fly through life with joy and a deep sense of purpose.

I’m still flying 10yrs later.

Here’s to creating a colourful life!

Happy Friday everyone!
