Ok, I have to admit, I went up to my 10 year old daughter’s bedroom yesterday to take a photo for today and started picking up everything off the floor, when I just lost all my energy to do it. She had had a sleepover and friends to play over the weekend, so dens had been made, dressing up had happened, midnight feasts had been eaten. It was a mess. And I had sooo much work to catch up! So, in a moment of revelation, I threw down my dustpan and brush, flicked through the photos on my phone and found the perfect tidy room shot! Voila! Job done! 😎 😂 Sometimes we just have to give ourselves a break!

I actually wanted this shot for the blue table top - you may recognize the blue? OMG I love it here. I’ve actually had this table for 20 years, bought for that house I used to own. It started life as a plain pine Ikea table. Dull, but solid and useful. Then, a few years ago, in a bid to brighten up my previous depressing flat, I glazed it and stenciled neon orange stars onto it (swipe 👈🏻). It took ages and I loved it. But my son had a friend round to play a few days after I’d finished and I found him at the table vigorously digging a fork into the table top, cracking open the varnish seal - and it all went downhill from there 😧 So, when I painted this room with my daughter, in the spirit of ‘make do and mend’, I sanded back the table top and repainted it yet again - and now it’s perfect again!

Oh and the desk chair was upcycled/re-designed by the fab jay_n_co in an Ideal Home Show demo!
