Morning everyone! I’ve been doing a lot of painting over the last few days - not pictures, but door frames! This is the corridor in my flat, looking through from the kitchen door, painted in turquoise blue, through to the bathroom, with all the door frames down the corridor painted in a sugared almond pink. It’s amazing the difference it makes to how welcoming and warm the corridor feels, just painting door frames. It really lifts your spirits! .

I have to admit though, I’d originally painted the whole hallway pink. Several experiments have been done which show that people put in a pale pink room experience a significant decrease in feelings of aggression, anger and agitation and even lose muscle strength for a while. My plan was, that since my 12 year old son is very physical in his response to anger and can get quite emotionally wound up (puberty + absent father = classic!), the pale pink corridor would calm him down as he entered our flat, so we could all have a lovely peaceful evening. Unfortunately, when he came home from school after I had painted it on Friday, he was horrified, said he couldn’t believe we had a pink hallway, shouted that this wasn’t his home anymore and stormed up the stairs to his room, stamping on every wooden step very loudly. So the theory worked! Not! 😂 I promptly painted the walls back to white (after all, it is his home too), but kept just the door frames pink. Actually, I prefer it like this and my son is now very happy and thinks it looks fantastic. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow! .
