I thought I’d go back to the beginning today and show you how my crystal glass lamp bases are hand made with such care by Langham Glass in Norfolk. These are photos from the day we made the very first one! I brought sketches with me to show them the shape and size I wanted. This first picture is the glass being melted in the furnace. Then you see the master glass maker mouth blowing the molten glass, hand shaping it, us discussing the shape, testing the size for the fittings, cooling it down and then assembling it. Once we had made this first one, we then had a beautiful oak and carbon mould made in the Lake District and now all the lamp bases are mouth blown into this mould and then hand cut, polished and assembled at the glassworks. It’s such an amazing process to watch! .
