St. Jerome, Doctor of the Church, devoted his life to the study and translation of the Holy Scriptures. He was tempted in the desert, as Jesus was, and had a deep love of the Infant Jesus. This love drove him to lead to perfection anyone who desired total earthly detachment, notably, Saint Paula and her daughters: Blesilla, Eustochuim, Marcella, Melania, Asella, Lea, Albina, Marcellina and Felicitas. Until his death sometime after he had turned 81 years old, he was preserved entirely in his clearness of mind, always recommending the virtues of humility, patience and charity to his disciples.

St. Jerome, pray for us!
