Reading St. Thomas’ work can be intimidating. The latest Aquinas 101 lesson, titled “How Do You Read an Article of the Summa?”, walks readers through Thomas’ method in how he approaches the questions of each article. The Summa Theologiae, Fr. Gregory says, “offers a pedagogical approach to all of theology. St. Thomas doesn’t traffic in ready-made and eclectic insights. Instead, he offers an approach to the faith that is systematic and wise.” Understanding St. Thomas’ method is essential to understanding his teaching.
