Read her story below: “I was drawn to Bloorview initially because of its reputation for leading practices and care. In order to find the most relevant interventions for my daughter, I hoped to surround myself with professionals who were doing the most current work in the field. As I spent time in my role as a family leader, I realized that the lived experience that I had as a parent of a child with special needs could help other families better understand and navigate the health care system. It means a lot to me to know that I can be a direct help to families affected by childhood disability, and that I can use my experience to help better the system for families to come.
