300 Days Without Alcohol

I never thought I’d be able to accomplish this. Drinking was something very present in my life since high school. I got my 👀 on a full year.

Here are my 3 biggest takeaways so far:

1. Drinking isn’t a personality trait. It can just be something you choose or choose not to do. I always thought I was obligated to drink whenever the opportunity was there because it’s “who I was” and I didn’t want to miss out. I never tried giving up alcohol since all I thought about were upcoming events I’d probably drink at. It’s always our choice.

2. My mental clarity and productivity is up by like 1000%. I do not miss a single thing about waking up dehydrated or hungover. Even if it was just 1 strong drink the night before, my body would feel it. My recovery & performance in the gym would be effected for 2-3 days. I’m happy that this isn’t something I’ve had to deal with over the last 300 days. I’ve gained a lot of quality time in my weekends & have connected to myself more than ever.

3. We are always the biggest obstacle in our way. Our thoughts, our habits, our mindset. I told myself I could never do this, which is why I never did it. I told myself that there were too many events coming up with alcohol, when I was the one making the choice to drink. I told myself it was part of who I am, so I never gave myself the chance to do anything different.

The 3rd takeaway applies to anything in life really.

For those of you that are nervous to create boundaries with social drinking, even when you know it’s holding you back from your goals … fitness, career, relationship, etc … I hope you find this post helpful & my DM’s are always open for conversation 🫶🏼

One bonus takeaway - we don’t owe anyone explanations for our choices

I don’t know where this path will lead me, or if this will be a forever thing, but I am fully aware that my choices are my responsibility & that I’m doing the right thing if it FEELS GOOD for me.

Have an amazing day y’all & thanks for the support always ❤️
