“Florence is a super international city. There's students from all over - all over Europe, all over the world. So I've met people from a bunch of different countries that if I call them up now and say, 'Oh, I'm going to be in London or Spain or Sweden,' I'll have someone to take me around, which is something that's really cool. Just being able to make those connections has been huge.”

Zuhri Sinclair ’22 wasn’t originally planning on staying at the Marist Florence campus for all four of his years at the College, but after ‘testing the waters’ during the FFE program, he transferred to the four year program and never looked back. Finishing up his studies this May, the senior realized that living abroad taught him more about himself than he would have ever imagined.

“At the beginning of the FFE program, they had us write a bunch of goals. I don't remember all of them because obviously, this was years ago, but I remember my main goals were to get a good grasp of the language, which I have, and make Italian friends, which I did. And I think I've done a good job of assimilating to the culture… just having that mindset of 'you're here, and while you're here, you should try and make the most of it because it's not going to last forever.' My freshman year, I felt like I had all the time in the world here, and now I only have a couple months left. So all in all, I'd say I think my freshman self would be proud of what I've achieved here, and I've definitely matured a whole lot. I mean, living in a foreign country will definitely make you grow and think differently. I think all in all, my 18-year-old self would kind of give myself a pat on the back and say, 'Good job. You did the best that you could.'”
