One of the most important things I have learned by watching infants and toddlers is that they are integrating everything around them through movement and touch. I realized that one of the most thoughtful things you can do for your baby is let them play 𝐢𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫. I saw how an adorable onesie can hinder a baby's ability to roll over. That a dress could easily get in the way of a baby's ability to crawl. ⁣

In the right temperature, all they need is a diaper. ⁣
⁣
Young children are taking in every single sensation and use that information to make assessments about their environment. ⁣
⁣
“Oh I felt something with my foot, oh I can move this foot!”⁣
⁣
“Oh I see that toy to the side of me, oh wow, I can reach for that toy, and oh boy now my body is leaning over toward that toy and WHOA I’m now on my belly!” ⁣

Are just a few of the things I imagine a baby thinking when they can actually feel and experience everything. That’s what I love most about sensory play; children can feel and experience all of it. ⁣
