The owners of Lotus of Siam, famed as the best Thai restaurant in the U.S., have filed a trademark lawsuit against the Bua Group, their partners in the Red Rock Resort location.

This 22-page federal lawsuit, with many redactions, centers on alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and trademark violations.

The dispute began when Chef Saipin Chutima and her husband expanded their business. While the original restaurant enjoyed a strong reputation, the Red Rock location has damaged it. Many locals mistakenly believed it was run by the same owners.

The conflict involves how and when the Bua Group can use the Lotus of Siam trademark and the Chutima family’s rights to update Red Rock operations.

The lawsuit demands a declaration of trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, monetary damages, and adherence to the original agreements by the Bua Group.
