## Caption

Mount Charleston's Mary Jane Falls Trail, along with Upper Bristlecone, Cathedral Rock, and Deer Creek Picnic Area, remains closed due to severe damage from last August's torrential rain.

The U.S. Forest Service lacks funds for repairs, and environmental permitting will delay reopening even if funds are secured.

Despite efforts to educate the public, hiking these closed trails is illegal.

Violators face up to six months in jail and fines up to $5,000.

Rescue operations on these trails are extremely dangerous and time-consuming, often requiring helicopter assistance.
