During a six-hour enforcement effort at the intersection of Green Valley Parkway and the 215 Beltway, law enforcement officials caught 77 drivers violating red light rules.

The Nevada Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Henderson Police Department, targeted this particular intersection due to its high risk status, as evidenced by over 14,000 red light violations in February alone.

The operation also resulted in various other citations, including speeding and driving without insurance.

The initiative is part of a broader push, highlighted by Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill, to modify state laws to permit traffic enforcement cameras and prioritize violations that contribute to accidents.

This call for change comes amidst rising traffic fatalities in the area, with 51 deaths recorded so far in 2024. The intersection is slated for future modification to improve traffic flow.
