In the Clark County School District (CCSD), there has been a concerning surge in incidents involving students being struck by vehicles near schools, with 106 such incidents reported since the start of the current school year.

This represents a significant increase from the previous year, where 52 incidents were reported by the same time.

In response, the CCSD Police Department, in collaboration with other local law enforcement agencies, is intensifying efforts to enforce traffic regulations in school zones.

The enforcement campaign aims to address the primary causes of these incidents, identified as speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence. Crossing guards and police officials emphasize the critical importance of adhering to speed limits and remaining vigilant to ensure the safety of students commuting to and from school.

Despite the efforts, challenges persist as some drivers
continue to ignore safety measures, underscoring the need for community-wide awareness and compliance to prevent further accidents.
