Repost literarylasalle:

“If you haven’t heard amidst the (deserved) hubbub for this book, “Age of Vice” centers on a cataclysmic moment, a fatal car … This is so, so well written. I just finished this week and already want to re-read with a closer eye. I loved the structure of the book too: Kapoor completely nails the shifting POVs - we see similar events playing out across each person’s chapters, with slight dialogue and context changes based on who we’re following at the moment. (My favorite was flipping back & forth between Neda and Ajay’s dialogue to see the differences in how they perceived the conversation). We have some chapters in italics, as if readers are a fly on the wall somewhere we shouldn’t be. And as the tension builds near the end of the book, we get short, choppy 1-5 word sentences … like scenes flashing by in a movie. Sooo good!

There are a LOT of theories and “wait what did this mean” discussions to be had about this book — no spoilers here though, as everyone should go in blind. Being as vague as possible though, I still have open questions about some of the events ~75% of the way in …but thank goodness this is the start of a series and we get more. Also the ending…I stayed up til midnight furiously flipping pages and was shook!

I wish there was a hidden camera recording my face reading this book, would be something like: 🫣🥺😭🥵🤔🤔🤯😱🤯. just fyi some parts are hard to read / slightly gory, but still left me with my jaw on the floor.

If you couldn’t tell, AOV definitely lived up to the hype for me. I highly recommend reading alongside friends so you can be like “omg WHAT” at the end (s/o alwaysreadingrach emilybookedup!). Can’t wait for book #2! 👏🏼”
