If you have been in paid employment after October 2012, you have had legal right to a pension through autoenrollment 

Companies are legally obliged to enrol you into a pension scheme where you contribute, and they do too

You may have opted out WHICH IS FINE, but if you did please be certain you asked them to

But the question is, are you in employment where you can opt back in now, and start making up any gaps for your future security?

You can re-enrol at any point by asking your payroll representative who can provide information

Many companies 'match' your extra contribution above standard rate (up to a cap). This is FREE MONEY mum, so if you can, please take it. Every penny helps.

Your pension has incredible capabilities to grow due to something called 'compound interest'. This is where the interest gained in the growth of you pension over the year, is added to the pot, so more interest can be added on the even bigger pot the following year … compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world some books including ours
