Three different women, three different generations, three sets of problems that are different yet the same. I am a huge fan of biblical reimagined stories - like π‘΅π’‚π’‚π’Žπ’‚π’‰ - and the story of Queen Esther has always been a favorite. Do not buy this book for this alone though because it’s about so much more. But the inner thoughts of Esther are incredibly well done as are her heroic actions. Vivan is a 1970’s wife of a senator and there isn’t much he won’t do to advance his career. I will be upfront and say that there is a marital rape scene here. It’s not gratuitous, it advances the plot, and I appreciated that the author wrote it in such a way where the reader could understand not only what was happening but that is does in fact happen in real life. Lastly you have Lily, the 2016’s second wife struggling to balance motherhood, a career, and an ailing mother while still pleasing her husband. She is probably the easiest to identify with but there is something in each character for every reader. This book hits all the hot buttons and all the feelings and does it with compassionate, well researched writing, and a story arc that spans centuries. It’s impressive to say the least. I will be writing a full review on my blog to talk more about the specific issues and I hope you’ll check it out next week. βœ‚οΈβœ‚οΈβœ‚οΈβœ‚οΈ.5/5 Thank you to netgalley and henryholtbooks for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review. #thebookofv #currentlyreading #bookobsessed #booksta #instabooks #readersofinstagram #alwaysreading #igreads #booksofinstagram #bookblogging #bookstagrammers #bookstoread #bookstagramfeatures #booksarelife #readingislife #readmorebooks #booknerds #bluntscissorsbookreviews ## Stats - **Views:** 0 - **Likes:** 132 - **Shares:** 0 - **Comments:** 5 ## Credits No public credits are recorded here.
