✨ Upstate Magazine Highlight: Colby King, another one of our incredible first-generation faculty members at USC Upstate! From growing up in a working-class family to navigating the halls of academia, Colby’s journey is a powerful example of pure determination. ✨

💼 Attending grad school opened doors to which made him an incredible asset to our students. He understands firsthand what it's like to balance work, family, and school.

📚 'What first-gen faculty bring is a real understanding of our students’ lives and why they’re coming to class,' says Colby. His passion for education and helping others succeed is clear—he even keeps snacks in his office for students who need a pick-me-up during busy days.

🍎 At USC Upstate, we celebrate stories like Colby’s, where education isn’t just a career path but a bridge to opportunity and connection.
