In honor of National Authors Day, we wanted to showcase some local authors!

Stacy Wells is the youth librarian at Southlake Public Library, but did you know she is also a writer for kids? She has a heart and passion for kid literature, and her books center on her Choctaw heritage. Stacy’s debut picture book, STRONGER THAN co-authored with Nikki Grimes, is forthcoming from Heartdrum (HarperCollins) in 2025.

Anita Kharbanda is an Indian-American engineer by trade, and a storyteller by heart. She lives in North Texas with her loving husband and two sons. The healing power of letters filled with family history inspired Anita to start writing. She now writes the kinds of stories she’s devoured through the years, with one difference. She promised herself she’d write stories about the characters she dreamed of seeing in books growing up, and lift the voices of those who go unheard.

Yali Books published her debut YA, Lioness of Punjab, on September 17, 2022.

Lioness of Punjab is available for checkout.
