Jet engines don’t push air backward.
They turn air into controlled explosions ✈️🔥

Engineers summarize it with one unforgettable phrase:

SUCK → SQUEEZE → BANG → BLOW

Here’s what’s actually happening inside a jet engine 👇

⸻

🌀 1. SUCK (Intake)
Air is pulled into the engine by the fan and compressor blades.
At cruising speed, a jet engine can ingest over 1 ton of air per second.
This incoming air is slowed and straightened so it can be compressed efficiently.

⸻

📦 2. SQUEEZE (Compression)
Rows of rotating and stationary compressor blades increase air pressure 20–40×.
This compression is critical — fuel won’t burn efficiently without it.
Modern engines use axial compressors with up to 30 stages, each adding pressure.

⸻

🔥 3. BANG (Combustion)
Fuel is injected and ignited — but here’s the surprise:
The flame never explodes and never goes out.
It burns continuously in a carefully controlled vortex at ~2,000°C.
Only ~25% of the oxygen is used — the rest is saved for cooling.

⸻

💨 4. BLOW (Exhaust / Thrust)
The hot, expanding gases rush through the turbine, spinning it (which powers the compressor),
then blast out the exhaust nozzle at supersonic speeds.
Newton’s 3rd Law does the rest:
➡️ Air backward = plane forward.

⸻

🧠 Why this matters
Jet engines are one of the most efficient energy conversion systems humans have ever built —
and the same principles show up in rockets, power plants, and even car engines.

STEM isn’t magic.
It’s physics, pressure, and precision.
