Why do simple piano chords sometimes sound stiff, while the same chords in a song like Adele’s “Someone Like You” sound beautiful and flowing?

In this beginner piano lesson, I’ll show you three changes that make a huge difference: breaking chords into individual notes, creating a repeating pattern, and connecting chords with smaller hand movements.

We’ll put those ideas together, then apply them to a different chord progression—Am, G, F and C—so you can use the technique beyond one song. You’ll also learn how dynamics and the sustain pedal help your playing sound more expressive.

Try it with four chords you already know, and tell me in the comments which progression you used!
