“If it wasn’t for cancer,” survivor SeanSwarner shares, “I wouldn’t be where I am in life right now. It has offered me opportunities that never would have been available before, however it’s also been my choice to see cancer as an opportunity and not an obstacle.”

October is #PositiveAttitudeMonth, and it is difficult to imagine a more inspirational outlook than Sean’s. His “never-say-die” attitude – which he credits to his parents – gave him the strength to accomplish amazing physical goals as part of his cancer journey. With only one functioning lung, he became the first survivor to summit Mt. Everest, and the only person to top the highest peak on every continent, ski to both Poles, and complete the Hawaii Ironman. “Tapping into your personal core values will give you a deeper understanding of why you’re doing what you are, but also help you continue forward in the face of adversity,” says Sean. “Long story short: Anything is possible, sometimes you just have to see and believe that it is.”

“Who do I #StandUpToCancer for?” Sean adds. “Everyone ever touched by the disease. They give me hope to continue when I’m trudging through 80-below temperatures, or climbing to the roof of the world. I just hope I can do the same for them.” ❤️💛🧡
