VPS Lakeshore, the pioneers in Kerala in POEM procedures, has now completed 103 successful POEM procedures under the team led by Dr. Roy J. Mukkada, who is also the first doctor from Kerala to perform the procedure.

Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) is a treatment done for people with Achalasia. The procedure involves inserting an endoscope through the mouth to cut the muscles of the oesophagus, loosening and preventing the muscles from interfering with swallowing.
