Paediatric Cochlear Implants are proven to be successful for children, including infants, and VPS Lakeshore Hospital has bookmarked its own success stories in that area of expertise. Taking this into consideration, Mr Majid Muhammed and his wife flew from their home in Yemen to VPS Lakeshore Hospital, this August; along with their two-year-old son Wail Majid Muhammed.
Wail seemed to have developed no sign of hearing since birth and the condition was known to his parents only later on. After thorough research and analysis, for the right place to treat Baby Wail, Mr Majid consulted Dr Idiculla K Mathews (HoD and Sr Consultant, ENT) who advised a cochlear implant surgery for the little one on 22 August 2022.
A month later marked the important day when Wail would be able to hear for the first time. This video is sure to put a smile on your face as you witness Baby Wail's reactions when he knows sound.
