🏠 Imagine living in a town where almost everyone your neighbors, teachers, police, and even the mayor lives in the same building. That’s everyday life in Whittier, Alaska, where about 80% of the population resides in a single 14-story structure called Begich Towers.

Located between towering mountains and icy waters, Whittier is accessible by only one tunnel through a mountain, and it closes at night! There are no neighborhoods or scattered homes just two main residential buildings and a whole lot of wilderness.

It’s a community like no other tiny, tightly-knit, and surrounded by raw nature. Curious how people make it work in such close quarters and remote conditions? It’s a true Alaskan marvel.
