The past week had given us a whole new meaning for the word community. Community is the shared memories we all have together of this amazing town of Highland Park that we call home. Whether you live here or are connected to HP in any way, we are all feeling the darkness of this week, but with community comes light. 

Highland park is brunches at Walker Bros and countrykitchenhp with your friends. 
Its growing up playing in Port Clinton with the big map in the middle. 
It’s hot dogs at eatmichaels and late night ice cream at DQ, Loves, and Frost. 
It’s camp clothes at Uncle Dans and makeup at Ross’s. 
It’s shopping at Rock N Rags, and lorisshoes, and styleshacklife. 
It’s coffees at Starbucks and coffeespeaks.co . 
It’s sushi dates at sushikushitoo_hp and Badaya. 
It’s football games at Wolters Field and sports practice at HPHS. 
It’s seeing everyone you know at onceuponabagel and eating too much pizza at Lou’s and leftyspizzakitchen . 
It’s manicures at Queens, Serene, and Divine nails and haircuts at ALX salon and B Beautiful. 
It’s getting your braces off at Dr. Robb and promising him you’ll wear your retainer. 
It’s feeling healthy after a smoothie at truejuice123 or Perfect Blend. 
It’s nights out in Highwood and Wednesday farmers markets that sell more drinks and food than actual fruits and veggies. 
It’s not being able to walk down the street without seeing someone you know, and smiling at the familiar faces of joggers and people walking their dogs on Central Ave. 
& of course it’s riding your bike in the Fourth of July parade as a kid…

Highland Park is SO MUCH more than the town you’ve seen on the news and we will continue to carry those happy memories together as one. 

Unfortunately, now we all have another memory of this town that we share together, but we will not let this event outshine all of the love, and laughter, and light this town has given us over the years. We look forward to coming together to take back our town, bring light to an otherwise dark time, and start building new happy memories together. We are and always will be #highlandparkstrong
