## Caption

A medical momma gave Shannon Wilardson some advice that has guided her every since. “I remember with vivid poignancy the moment I realized I would be a medical mama, raising a child (and later *children*) with a rare disease and major developmental delays. As we began to navigate those unchartered waters, I spoke with another medical mom who gave me advice that has guided me ever since. She said ‘Never stop advocating for your child, and never let anyone tell you what they can or can’t do.’ That mama had no idea how empowering those words were or how much they would guide my approach to being a medical mom, but they’ve made all the difference in the world for me & for my baby girls.” 📸: shannonwillardson
