The Emergency in Asheville @Beloved Asheville #hurricane #helene #disasterrelief #micronation #ironland #geography Last week, Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc across Asheville, North Carolina, and numerous other towns in the western part of the state. It ranks among the most devastating hurricanes in history, leaving large parts of the region unrecognizable. Thousands of people remain stranded in the mountains with no way out. Entire communities have been cut off as floodwaters destroyed roads, homes, buildings, and vehicles. Communication infrastructure is in tatters, and millions have lost power and access to clean water across six states. If you're wondering how to help, the best thing you can do is check on people living in and around Asheville by text. Ask if they need supplies, help with evacuation (there’s a severe gas shortage), or just share vital information since internet access is still severely limited. For those living outside the area, the most effective way to assist is by donating to BeLoved Asheville. As a local resident, I know this organization has the infrastructure and knowledge to quickly deliver aid, especially to those often overlooked by larger organizations like FEMA and the Red Cross.
