François-Louis Cailler started selling chocolate in 1819 and soon opened his own factory. After his death, his wife and two sons continued the business. In 1898, his grandson Alexandre-Louis Cailler started producing milk chocolate in Broc. Cailler became the largest chocolate company in Switzerland and merged with Peter Kohler in 1911.
