What is a watch brand without the people behind it? Nothing! This is why in 2020 we introduced #humanfriday – to present team members, partners and friends of the brand. Today we meet Cesare Riegler, our young, very talented watchmaker. 

22-year-old Cesare Riegler graduated from his watchmaking program in 2017, and after a few years working for IWC and the retailer Christ, he joined Chronoswiss in the spring of 2021 . 
“It was a great experience to work for big companies, but I prefer to be at an independent family-owned company. Here I am not just working on some details – I am really part of the action where the watches are made ready for our clients.” 

Why did you become a watchmaker?
“Good question … to me there is something fascinating about making a watch come to life and making sure that it runs smoothly. If a watch comes in for repair, I like the challenge of figuring out, understanding and solving the problem.”

What happens on a normal workday?
“Most of the time I am doing service, but when needed, I also jump into production. This is how it is in a small company – you work together. Regardless of what I do, when I make feierabend (Swiss German for clocking out), I have a good feeling – I know that I have done something good, that I have contributed towards our goals.” 

What are your favourite models? 
“I really like to service older time-only models like Kairos. I just like the purity of those timepieces. Of the new models I am mesmerised by the guilloché patterns, especially the ReSec models. I just love the jump of the retrograde!” 

How would other people describe you?
“My best friend says that I at times can come across as a bit confused as I can lose myself in thoughts. (Laughs.) And without trying to sound arrogant, some would say that I am very thorough and precise in what I do.” 

What are you passionate about outside work?
“Photography, videography and music! I use my computer to make music… but I still have a lot to learn!”
